COVID-19

With COVID-19 on the rise and self-quarantines, job closings, and the like; it might be more difficult to engage in life like you once did. I have some tricks and tips to assist you during this time!

First and foremost, please remember this will not be forever. We have gotten through other pandemics in this country and we will most certainly do it again.

1. Make a gratitude list and rewrite it daily. I would also suggest reading it aloud to yourself or other friends/family/loved ones that you are in the home with.

2. Make sure to schedule your time accordingly. Some businesses are closing so that means you might not be able to engage with your normal schedule. I would suggest coming up with an alternative schedule. For example: if you usually start your day at the gym, maybe you can do an at home Yoga class or Tabata (HIIT) workout by watching one on YouTube. I would schedule in some time outside for a walk or just to sit in the sun.

3. Try new things! Pick up that hobby you wanted to get into like drawing, painting, writing/journaling or cooking (if you have the means).

4. Pick up a good book or reread on you have!

5. Start a show you’ve wanted to begin watching.

6. Call or video chat your friends.

7. Engage in prayer and/or meditation practices.

8. Clean your room/home/apartment. You could even move around some furniture to make the space look like new!

9. Unplug from the news media and social media outlets if it’s causing you anxiety.

10. Reach out to your mental health professionals for check-ins and see if they offer phone sessions instead of in person sessions. If you do not have a mental health professional and would like assistance there are some free mental health apps for smart phones. There are also great channels on YouTube for mental health info and tips.
